Falafel

Ingredients:

Chickpeas - 200g (Washed and soaked for minimum 10 hours)
Coriander Leaves (Cilantro) - 1 Cup
1 Large Onion or 1 Cup of Shallots - Chopped
All Purpose or Gram Flour - 1 Tbsp
Breadcrumbs - 2 Tsp
Cumin Powder - 2 Tsp
Roasted Curry Powder - 1 Tsp
Salt to taste
Oil to deep fry

Method:

1. Drain the water from soaked chickpeas. In a food processor grind together the first 3 ingredients adding no water at all. You should end up with a soft crumbly mixture.

2. Transfer it to a mixing bowl and add the rest of the ingredients (except oil). Mix well with clean hands.

3. Now make approximately lemon sized balls from it and slightly flatten it like a patty.

4. Deepfry on medium heat till both sides are cooked well. Drain the excess oil and place on paper towel.

5. Serve hot with Tahini sauce.

* For a healthier version, the Falafels can be baked.
