Middle Eastern Pita Bread (Khubz)




Ingredients:

All Purpose Flour - 1 1/2 Cups
Instant Dry Yeast - 2 Tsp
Sugar - 1 Tsp
A Pinch of Salt
Extra Virgin Olive Oil - 1 Tbsp
Lukewarm Water to knead

Method:

1. Mix all dry ingredients plus oil together and add water little by little to make a soft dough. Cover with a damp cloth and set aside for 1-2 hours.

2. By now the dough may have doubled in size. Punch the dough and divide into equal parts. (approximately a size of a lemon)

3. Roll each ball to the shape of a circle and place on the greased baking tray. Now let them prove again. Keep covered for around 20 minutes.

4.  Bake them on preheated oven (200C) until they puff up and turn golden brown.
